Romance Scams: Don’t Get Caught Out

According to statistics recently published in America, the growing industry of romance scams is costing victims on average $11,500 per scam, up from $7,900 per scam in 2007. A romance scam is set up by fraudsters using popular internet dating and social networking sites to ensnare victims, then taking money from them in a variety of ways; including using stolen credit cards and even violent assault.

Of course, the first defence from this kind of scam is down to the sites themselves. Several popular websites have recently updated their filter algorithms to help them catch fraudsters before they even set up a profile. Unfortunately, it hasn’t taken the fraudsters long to wise up to this, and they’re starting to figure out ways around these systems even now.

If you are worried about the identity of the people you meet online, you should consider engaging the services of a professional private investigator. Private Investigators these days don’t just deal with physical surveillance, they are also well equipped to deal with surveillance over the internet, as well as computer forensics. They have all the tools that you need to be able to find the identity of that person you’ve met online, and discover before it’s too late whether that person is real, or a fraudster intent on taking your money.

North Court Investigations is a leading investigations firm in the UK, which is perfectly placed with offices across the country, including a new office in Portsmouth, to work with you for a wide variety of cases. Contact us to find out more about our services.
